Last Friday, the Timpson Bears celebrated their annual homecoming game. Homecoming always comes with an increased level of excitement, and this year was no exception.

In fact, there was additional fervor this year as five-star recruit Terry Bussey announced where he will be taking his talents this year. Prior to the announcement, Bussey had narrowed his choices down to the University of Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, Alabama, and Oklahoma. Aggie fans were delighted to hear that he would be heading to College Station to kick off his collegiate football career.

Friday night’s festivities began with the presentation of the homecoming court. Emma Kaluza was crowned the 2023 Timpson Homecoming Queen.

Following the coronation, the Bears took to the field and completely dismantled the San Augustine Wolves in a one-sided affair that ended with a final score of 72-6.

Bussey led the team from the quarterback position completing 16 of 24 passes for 253 yards and three touchdowns. He also carried the ball eight times for 79 yards and a touchdown.

JJ Garner also had eight carries for a team high 100 yards and two touchdowns. Garner also reeled in two passes for 28 yards and another touchdown. Vosky Howard led the team receiving with seven receptions for 74 yards. Amari Bruton collected five receptions for 73 yards and a touchdown. Shaheed Cross only caught one pass, but his one reception netted him 66 yards and a touchdown.

The only thing slowing the Bears down at this point is their bye week. Timpson will enjoy a week to recover and prepare before facing the West Sabine Tigers next week.
