The Tenaha Tigers are now 3-0 in district play after defeating the Alto Yellowjackets. Alto’s season has been abysmal with an 0-8 record thus far. Tenaha cruised to a 55-20 victory led by junior quarterback Brikelian Kenney.

Kenny was 14 of 19 with 163 yards and a touchdown. He also had two carries for eight yards and a touchdown. Senior Ja’Tyrian Moore also took some snaps at quarterback completing two of two for 553 yards and a touchdown. Moore also had one carry for 10 yards and three receptions for 47 yards.

Senior Jordan Reese led the team rushing with 11 carries for 65 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Shaun Carson toted the ball seven times for a 25-yard total. DJ Cooks had five carries for 19 yards.

Kamarion Ross collected six catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns. Avanta Fredieu had five catches for 50 yards. Ferg Ross had three catches for 11 yards. He also had a kickoff return for a 65-yard touchdown.

Defensively, Cooks had a team-high 12 tackles and one caused fumble. Jaylon Williams had seven tackles with one for a loss. Ferg Ross had six tackles, one sack, one caused fumble, and one fumble recovery that he returned for a touchdown. Trace Holmes had three tackles and one sack.

Tenaha is currently leading 2A Division II District 11. Overton has been perfect on the season with a 7-0 record, but they have only played two district games to Tenaha’s three.

Fittingly, these two teams will clash in the last game of the regular season.

This week the Tigers are set to face off against the Cushing Bearkats for this year’s homecoming game. Those familiar with the traditions of Tenaha will note that the Tigers schedule their homecoming festivities on Saturday, and this year will be no different.
