The Tenaha Tigers took a massive 52-12 win over the Hull-Daisetta Bobcats last Friday night. Having won the title for District 11, the Tigers were paired with the fourth-place team from District 12. The Bobcats were simply no match for Tenaha.

The Tigers focused on the run game this week, likely to let time tick off the clock in a matchup with an outcome that was never really in question. Eight different student athletes carried the ball for Tenaha and six of them were able to cross the goal line for at least one touchdown.

Senior Kamarion Ross led the team in rushing yards with a total of 105 yards on only four carries. Classmate Jordan Reese led the team in carries with five for 58 yards and a touchdown. Junior Avanta Fredieu had three carries for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Shaun Carson carried the ball four times for 50 yards and a touchdown. Ja’Tyrian Moore had only one carry, but that one rush resulted in a 40-yard touchdown. Likewise, DJ Cooks took his one rushing attempt to the house on a 30-yard touchdown. Sophomore Ferg Ross had two carries for a 36-yard total. Finally, junior quarterback Brikelian Kenny rushed the ball twice for nine yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Ja’Tyrian Moore was able to pick off an interception for the Tigers on defense.

Kama r ion Ross, DJ Cooks, and DeCaden Cooks are each credited with a fumble recovery. Cooks also led the team in tackles with 14. Carson was next with 12, followed by Reese with 10.

Tenaha will now head to the area round to face the 9-2 Dawson Bulldogs. Dawson is coming into this matchup off of a 72-0 blowout over the Linden-Kildare Tigers. The two teams will meet on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in Athens.
