The Tenaha Tigers traveled to Carlisle last Friday night to face the Indians in their first district match to date. The Tigers outlasted Carlisle 47-30 moving the Tigers to an overall record of 4-2 Junior quarterback Brikelian Kenney completed six passes for 159 yards and three touchdowns. Kenney also rushed five times for a total of 40 yards. Senior running back Jordan Reese carried the load in the rushing game with 13 carries and 88 yards. Junior Shaun Carson carried the rock three times for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Senior Ja’Tyrian Moore scored all three times he touched the ball on offense. In the rushing game, he punched the ball in from the twoyard line on his only carry. In the passing game he caught two passes for two touchdowns. The longest of the two totaled out to 48 yards, while the other was 28.

Senior Kamarion Ross also had two catches for a total of 69 yards. One of those receptions took him 62 yards to the goal line. Ross also led the team with two tackles for a loss on the defensive side of the ball.

Senior DJ Cooks was the overall defensive leader with 15 tackles. Reese, Ferg Ross, Robert Williams, and Seth Stokes each had one sack a piece.

Tenaha overcame adversity with this win. Turnovers were a problem for the Tigers as they gave away the ball three times on interceptions and twice on fumbles. Despite those hardships the Tigers fought hard and earned their win.

This week Tenaha will face the Alto Yellowjackets. Alto is still serving a playoff suspension handed down by UIL, meaning that they are ineligible for playoffs this year. Regardless, the Jackets will be seeking victory and will undoubtedly be out to spoil Tenaha’s 1-0 district record.
