Friday night football is never more exciting than when neighboring rivals meet under the lights.

The Tenaha Tigers hosted the Joaquin Rams Friday, Sept. 8 for an exciting matchup that would ultimately end with a home team victory of 50-42.

The Rams found themselves in a hole early and battled mightily throughout the second half to regain ground. Joaquin trimmed the score to an eight-point lead, but time expired before they could complete the comeback.

Tenaha quarterback Brikelian Kenney completed 11 of 16 passes for 190 yards, three touchdowns, and one interception. Kenny also rushed seven times for a total of 100 yards and a touchdown in the ground game. Jordan Reese was a workhorse for the Tigers carrying the ball 19 times for 133 yards with two touchdowns. Ja’Torion Moore had only one carry, but the young man made it count with 42 yards and a touchdown. DJ Cooks tallied up 60 yards on six carries, and Shaun Carson toted the ball three times for 18 yards and a touchdown.

Tenaha’s Kamarion Ross led the team receiving with 10 receptions for 92 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Ja’Tyrian Moore collected four passes for 46 yards and a touchdown.

Gauge Jordan of Joaquin carried the ball 28 times for 210 yards and one touchdown. Tate Bass carried the rock 10 times for 42 yards and a touchdown. Justyn Brown finished the game with 76 yards and a touchdown in the passing game.
