After seven weeks of football, the Joaquin Rams have finally put a victory in the win column. The Rams have struggled mightily this year as demonstrated by their current record of 1-5. Despite a less-than-stellar first half of the season, the Rams have kept their playoff hopes alive with their recent win over the Grapeland Sandies.

Joaquin was led by Gauge Jordan who dropped a massive 156 yards and four touchdowns on 16 carries. Jordan has been a key piece for the Rams all season spending time at both the quarterback and running back positions. The Rams had two 100-plus yard rushers as Elijah Hardison totaled 104 yards on 16 carries. Tate Bass had seven carries for 33 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Defensively, Dallon Jordan and Kaden Miller each snagged an interception helping Joaquin win the turnover battle. Jordan converted his interception into a pick-six.

Last Friday night was do or die for Joaquin. Although they would not have been statistically eliminated from playoff contention, a loss against the Sandies would have made their entry highly unlikely. Now, to secure the fourth seed, the Rams simply need to win two of their final three games.

San Augustine is next on the agenda for Joaquin. The Wolves currently hold a 2-4 overall record with a 0-2 district record.
