The Tigers of Tenaha faced adversity in their first game of the season and overcome it. After falling behind early to the West Sabine Tigers, Tenaha secured a come-frombehind victory in the fourth quarter by refusing to quit in their week one matchup. The result is an early notch in the win column for Tenaha, 21-20.

Junior quarterback Brikelian Kenny completed six passes on 12 attempts for 112 yards and a touchdown. Kenny also carried the ball seven times for 23 yards. Senior running back DJ Cooks had three carries for 18 yards and a touchdown. Senior wide receiver Ja’Tyrian Moore collected three pass receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown.

Cooks also had a team-high 15 tackles on the defensive side of the ball. Moore tallied 12 tackles and one sack.

Christian Rodriquez was automatic on the extra point going three for three.

Tenaha will now set their sights on the San Augustine Wolves for week two action. San Augustine has been in rebuild mode over the past few years. Last year was especially tough for the Wolves as they finished the 10-game season without securing a single victory. This year is already shaping up to be a different story. The Wolves defeated the Hemphill Hornets in week one with a final score of 36-20.

Tenaha will need to look sharp if they want to move to 2-0 and hand the Wolves their first loss.
