On Sunday, December 3, the Center Police Department hosted their annual “Cookies & Cocoa with Santa” at the Center Community House.

From 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., locals brought their kids to have  cookies and cocoa with Santa and bring toy donations to the the Operation Blue Santa Toy Drive. Participants also received free pictures with Santa, provided by Shelby County Today.

“Cookies & Coca with Santa,” is an annual Toy Drive event focused on giving back during the holidays. Each participant who brings a toy to donate to the Toy Drive is entered into a raffle giveaway.

This year, the raffle prizes were a 32-inch TV, a Christmas movie goody basket and a $100 Ivan Smith Furniture gift card.

“Operation Blue Santa would like to thank everyone who came out and enjoyed Cookies & Cocoa with Santa with us on Sunday,” said event organizer, Amy Lindley.

“We had a great turn out, and everyone had a wonderful time. We had about 100 kids come through and get their pictures with Santa, along with enjoying Cocoa, and lots of cookies, cupcakes and donuts,” she said.

At the event, kids were able to decorate their own cookies, ornaments and also color pictures for Santa. At the close of the event, the winner of the Toy Drive raffle was announced. The winner of the 32-inch TV,  $100 Ivan Smith Gift card and Christmas movie goody basket was  Enedina Akins.

“Thank you everyone for your toy donations.  Santa will be soon checking his list, and filling those bags,” she said.
