Timpson Lady Bears kick off new season with Midnight Madness Practice

The Timpson Lady Bears kicked off their volleyball season with their first practice of the 2019-2020 school year right after the clock struck midnight on Aug. 1.

UIL rules state that the first practice of the 2019-2020 season could commence no sooner than 12:01 a.m. on August 1. Anxious to start the season, the athletes approached the coaches with the idea of a midnight practice.

The time was set, and the team arrived at the Timpson Event center ready to train. Led by returning Head Coach James Foster, and Assistant Coaches Lacey Gandy, Kristan Solomon, and Bryan Braddock, the team assembled.

After warmups, the team ran through fundamentals. Coach Foster said that he “is pleased with the enthusiasm that his athletes showed throughout the evening,” and is “looking forward to another great season”.
Last year the Timpson volleyball team touted a record of 31-7. The Lady Bears had a 10-2 record in district play.

The Lady Bears went to playoffs where they took home three gold ball trophies.
The 2019-2020 team hopes to keep the momentum from last year. Timpson will have their first home game Tuesday, August 6th at 4:30 p.m., when they will take on the Cumberland Academy Lady Knights in non-district play.

Timpson ISD will host their first tournament in the Timpson ISD Event Center this year on Aug. 15-17.
