Tenaha Tigers edged out by the Troup Tigers

Team travels to Lovelady for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff Friday night

Kicking off the 2018 season, the Tenaha Tigers took on the Troup Tigers. The battle was tempestuous, as both teams fought until the very last second of the game with Tenaha losing, 42-39. The first score of the game was a 37-yard pass to Troup’s Jaden Lewis, which was answered shortly after by a touchdown on a punt return by Tenaha’s #1, Jay Lloyd. Both teams struggled to gain the lead, ending the first quarter at 7-7. The beginning of the second quarter was no different, both teams striving relentlessly to gain the advantage. With 7:34 left in the half, Troup’s Trent Allen managed to gain the lead for the Tigers, and with the extra point, pulled Troup ahead to 14-7. With Troup now in the lead, Tenaha found themselves racing against the clock. However, Troup held Tenaha off, forcing the Tigers to attempt a field goal. Tenaha kicker Christian Castillo effortlessly sent the ball between the goal posts from about 30 yards out, bringing the score to 14-10 with 2:44 left in the half. The first half of the game ended with Troup maintaining their lead.
