Tenaha Lady Tigers fall to Douglass in first round of playoffs
The Tenaha Lady Tigers faced their first opponents of this year's playoffs, the Douglass Lady Indians, Tuesday night at the Panola College gym.
Falling short by just 18 points, the Lady Tigers were defeated by Douglass with a final score of 46 - 28.
“I thought my kids showed up and played hard the first half of the game,” said Lady Tigers head coach Garry Davis.
Tenaha’s Anali Giles put up a total of four points throughout the tough-fought game, Alisa Dodd scored a total of six points and Jonisha Thompson scored a total of eight points.
The Lady Tigers were evenly matched against Douglass during the first half of the game; the Lady Tigers had the lead during the second quarter when the score when Tenaha was edging Douglass, 15-13.
Jasmine Dodd contributed two points for the Lady Tigers in the last half of the game, as well as Addy Duncan, who put up one point.
“In the third quarter… We had the momentum, but we could never get it back,” said Davis.
Tenaha took a hard loss to the Lady Indians, but coach Davis says that’s not going to stop the Lady Tigers.
“Their kids played well - their kids deserved it. It’s tough - but we’ll be back next year,” said Davis.
