Game story:

The Center Roughriders hosted the Gladewater Bears for their Homecoming game Friday night, and though spirits were high and the stadium was packed, the Riders defense just couldn't prevail against the Gladewater.

The fist quarter was started with Center receiving the ball. Devon Robinson called for a fair catch on the 16-yard line, but couldn't do much more. Center had several incomplete passes, and even though Jayden Hicks scrambled for several yards and completed passes to JaTerious Evans, it wasn't enough and Center turned over the ball on loss of downs. The Bears then had their chance to take charge of the game. The Bears handed off the ball to three different players, who each had no trouble getting through the Roughrider defense, and ended the First quarter on the Roughriders' seven-yard-line. yard line.

As the second quarter got underway, Gladewater scored within two plays on a quarterback keeper. They also make the extra point giving Gladewater the lead, 7-0.

Center's next drive ended on a punt, but Center caught a break as the Gladewater returner dropped the ball, and it was recovered deep in GLadewater territory. It seemed like what the Riders needed to turn things around. After an incomplete pass to Kaleb Parks, and a fumble on the snap which was recovered by Christian Lee, Center faced fourth down and opted for the field goal to make it 7-3.

But Gladewater took the ensuing kickoff and drove for a touchdown to take a 14-3 lead into the half.

After Halftime the boys in Purple came out pushing back and the defense tightened up the middle letting less runs get by than in the first half. The ball swithched hands three more times without either team able to score.

The fourth quarter goes back and forth before Gladewater added a final field goal.
