Shelbyville Dragons dominate opponents in playoffs by wide margin

The Shelbyville Dragons advanced to the UIL Boys' State Basketball Finals on Saturday much the same way they sailed through playoff action — they dominated.

The Dragons crushed the Hearne Eagles, 83-51, in the State Semi-Finals on Friday paving the way for Shelbyville to take on Gruver at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in San Antonio for the UIL Boys' 2A State Championship game and title.

The Gruver Greyhounds earlier Friday morning beat Martin's Mill.

In their run to the UIL Boys' State Basketball Tournament Championship game on Saturday the Dragons have outscored opponents by a margin of 531 points to 343.

The Shelbyville playoff run started on Feb. 19 when they took on the fourth place team in District 22AA, the Gary Bobcats at Central Heights. The Dragons won, 85-46.
