Tenaha, Shelbyville advance in playoffs; Timpson Lady Bears fall to Grapeland

Shelbyville vs Broaddus Final - 77-46, Shelbyville.

The Dragons were boosted to victory by a 37-point game from Jay Buckley.

The third round of playoff action will see the Dragons take on Gary at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 3, on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus at Johnson Coliseum.
Shelbyville will be the visiting team and ticket prices are $4 and $6.

Tenaha wins a close one in the 4th quarter over Big Sandy, 67-59, at Angelina College in Lufkin on Friday night.

The Tigers were led by a 37-point effort from Michael Hogg.

TIGER NATION will be heading to Nacogdoches on Tuesday to take on the San Augustine Wolves in the third round of playoff action.

The game is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 3, at the Johnson Coliseum on the SFA campus. Tickets are $4 and $6.

The winners of Tuesday nights games advance to Bryan High and the Region III Tourney.


After dominating opponents through the first rounds of Texas school girl basketball action, the Timpson Lady Bears fell to Grapeland on Friday night, 59-42.

The Regional semifinal game was played in Bryan.

The Lady Bears advanced to the semifinals after beating Shelbyville Lady Dragons in regional quarterfinal action, 55-45; defeating Big Sandy, 65-34 in the area round of playoffs; and knocking off Alto, 70-23, in bi-district action.

The Lady Bears finished the season with a 30-7 record.

Grapeland was to play Woden Saturday, Feb. 29, in Bryan.
