Joaquin, Timpson athletes participate in Beckville Relays

Joaquin Lady Rams dominated the long jump competition

The Timpson Bears and Joaquin Rams track teams represented Shelby County in the Beckville Relays on Thursday, March 7.

They competed against five other area teams.

In the girls’ division of the meet, Timpson placed third and Joaquin placed fourth. Beckville and Garrison were on top with first and second place respectively.

The Timpson Lady Bears had several athletes who ranked in the top three in their events. In the field portion, Kay’Unna Curtis placed second and ShyKurria Bussey placed third in Shot put. Emily Garcia earned third place in the long jump.

In the running events, the Lady Bears Relay team got second in the 4x200m relay. Runners for the Timpson Lady Bears’ relay team were Amiya Soto, Harlie Ware, Kamryn Courtney, and Kay’Unna Curtis. Individually, Emily Garcia placed second in both the 100m and 300m Hurdles. Celeste Bush earned a bronze medal in the 400m dash. Amaiya Soto took home the gold for the Lady Bears in the 800m run.

The Lady Rams also had athletes atop the winners’ podium in their respective events. In the field events, the with Victoria Byrd first, Riley Sherri’s in second, and Ebbie McCann in third.

The Lady Rams took the top two spots in the triple jump as well with Victoria Byrd placing first and Ebbie McCann taking second.

As for running events, Victoria Byrd placed second in both the 100m and 200m Dash, and Riley Sherrod placed third in the 100m Dash.

In the boys’ division of the meet, Joaquin placed fourth, and Timpson placed sixth. Garrison, Beckville, and Arp took the top three spots.

Joaquin’s relay team took first place in the 4x200m relay and 2nd in the 4x100m relay. Representing the Rams on the relay team was Connor Bragg, Gunner Nelson, Hunter Gates, and Lorenzo Lane.

Joaquin also had Hunter Gates place first in the 200m dash recording a 22:45 run. Connor Bragg placed first in the 100m dash with a final recorded time of 11:14.

The Timpson Bears’ senior Nicktaeo Scorton threw for second place in the shot put with 45.6 recorded on his throw. Senior Jordan Osby ran the 200m Dash in 23.95 to give him 3rd place. Jordan also got third place in the 100m dash with a time of 11:59.
