Center High School tennis places second at Jacksonville Invitational

Center High School Roughriders' tennis took second place overall in team points to start the spring tennis season in Jacksonville at the Jacksonville Varsity Invitational meet.

Jacksonville hosted 12 varsity tennis teams and the highlights / results are as follows:

Girls finished in the top 4 in 6 different brackets they participated in.  Highlighted by a 1st place finish in Mixed B Doubles (Emilee Elliott / Lance Holloway) and a 2nd place finish in Girls A Doubles (Katie Nehring / Maddie Russell).

Boys finished in the top 4 in 5 different brackets highlighted by 3rd place in Mixed A (Alec Dykes/CarolineScull), 3rd in Boys B Doubles (Jack Watlington / Collin Jones), as well as 3rd in Boys B Singles (Ian Williams).

Riders are scheduled to be back in action next Friday, Feb. 8, to compete in the 16 school event hosted by Kilgore.

In the girls division at Jacksonville Center was second with 115 points, behind Whitehouse with 135 points. Rounding out the top five were Hallsville with 100 points; Groesbeck, 80 points; and Palesine with 52.5 points.

In the boys division at Jacksonville the Center Riders placed second with 85 points behind first place Whitehouse with 190 points. Jacksonville placed third with 75 points; Hallsville boys had 60 points and Nacogdoches was fifth with 55 points.
