TYLER – The miles on the way back from Tyler were the same as the miles on the way out there, but for the Shelbyville Dragons football team, the trip back certainly seemed shorter.

The Dragons wore down the All Saints Trojans, 48-10, to snap a four-game losing streak and earn their first win under first-year head coach Charles Tindol.

Tindol said the big difference was in the consistency in execution shown on each play.

That is a trend that will need to continue if Shelbyville is to have success in its 2A-Div I District 11 opener Friday at the San Augustine Wolves, the No. 4-ranked team in the division.

“They are explosive on offense,” said Tindol. “We will have our work cut out for us. One positive for us is that the depth of the team will not be as big a thing as it was (against the 3A school). They have great althetes, but they have the same depth as us.”

Tindol said his team is as healthy as it has been in 3-4 weeks.

The Dragons (1-4) and the Wolves (5-0) have two common opponents in non-district play in Garrison and Hemphill. The Wolves beat Garrison, 28-0, while the Dragons lost, 28-0. Against Hemphill, the Dragons lost 20-12, while the Wolves won 34-22.

Wolves quarterback Gavin Murr has thrown for 940 yards and 10 touchdowns, and rushed for 143 yards this season. Running back K.J. Davis has 640 rushing yards thus far.
