Walter was born on July 26, 1925, in Ralls, Tx.  He was the son of Walter C Peddy Sr and Ollie Lee Pou Peddy.  He grew up in the Methodist church of Tenaha and raised his own family in the same church that he attended his whole life.

In January of 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in four naval campaigns during World War II.  He was very proud of his service to his country and was honorably discharged in April of 1946.

He came home from his service to his country, and married the love of his life, Dorothy Jean Chambers, on September 29, 1947, and they enjoyed a long marriage of 73 years.

During his life time, he owned and operated Peddy’s Tailor Shop in the mid 1940’s and also tried his hand at operating the picture show theatre in Joaquin, TX.  He became a telephone lineman for the local telephone exchange and found his calling.  He did this for several years and then bought and operated Tri-County Telephone Company in Garrison, Texas, until he retired.

Walter was very active in his community and served as a Tenaha ISD Board of Trustee for several years.  He supported his Tenaha Tigers and was an active member of the Tenaha Quarterback Club.   He was also a member of the VFW, Post 5620, of Carthage, TX.  Walter was also a very active supporter of his church.

After retirement, he was very blessed to be able to travel extensively and to enjoy his hobbies of RV’ing and fishing.  In his later years, he loved to read and took great enjoyment in watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren as they participated in different activities.
