Samantha Faye Cotton Johnson
Samantha Faye Cotton Johnson (Sam or Aunt Mat), passed away peacefully with her family at her side on July 6, 2019 at Nacogdoches Medical Center. She was a lifetime resident of Garrison, TX a place that she loved and adored.
Born to the union of Percy “Snap” Cotton and Fronia Hartsfield Cotton. She was reared with 7 siblings which all proceeded her in death. Mrs. Johnson graduated from Garrison High School in 1953. She was employed by Stephen F. Austin State University and Aramark, where she retired after “25” years of service. During her time at Stephen F. Austin she made many lifetime friends that either became family or were discovered to be family.
Samantha Johnson is proceeded in death by her parents Percy and Fronia Cotton, Husband John F. Johnson Sr. “Johnny” 7 Siblings Choice Graves, Olpheia Cotton, Bertie Simon, James Cotton, Percy Cotton Jr., Annie Bell Willis, and Nolan Cotton.
Left to treasure and carry on her legacy are Sons: Anthony “Tony” (Lillie) Oliphant, Roy “Roylee”
Oliphant, Stanley Oliphant, and John Fredrick “Freddy” Johnson. Grandchildren: Nikkia Oliphant, Felisha (Donald) Baker, Monteasiea “Sleep” (Nagaris) Johnson, Stanley “Garrard/Rardy G” Campbell, Shaquille “Shaq” Thomas, Jonshonique “Shoni” Taylor, and Tosha Williams, Great Grands: Jeremiah “her sports partner:, Cameron “her Cam the President”, Jirah “her assistant chef:, Samantha “her name sake”, Hannah “her Mexican”, Shayla, Maisie, Blair, Jaylen, Robert, Lacey, Kaylee, and LaDawn.
Special Nieces: Gloria Jean Cotton “Rub” and Sandra “Dochie” Richardson. Nephews: Leo “Squeaky” Cotton, Jim Cotton, Bob “Nolan” Cotton, Terrel “Duck” Cotton, Joe “Joelee’Cotton, Randy “Boone”
Griffin, Henry “Henry Otha: Neal Jr. Special Great Niece and took care of her on doctors’ visits
Lakeshia Riley. Her Aides that became daughters to her: Earline Scourton, Greta Rather, and Vicki Burch.
