Joyce Lynn Oates Flournoy, 79, of Shreveport, Louisiana

Joyce Lynn Oates Flournoy, 79, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on May 21, 2022, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born on January 16, 1943, in the Dreka Community to Jessie Earl Oates and Vashti Ross Oates.  Mrs. Flournoy was a life-long member of Dreka United Pentecostal Church.

Funeral service will be held at 2PM on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Mangum Funeral Home with Rev. Kerry Green and Rev. Jeff McGee officiating.  Interment will follow at Rather Cemetery in Shelbyville, Texas. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from 5-8 PM at Mangum Funeral Home.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Earl Oates and Vashti Ross Oates; and brother, Jimmy Earl Oates.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Guy Flournoy.

Daughters and sons-in-law: Tammy Flournoy Rawls and husband Jeff of Shreveport, Louisiana; Kelly Flournoy Allen and husband Clifton of Shreveport, Louisiana; Jacy Flournoy Lightfoot and husband Derrick of Joaquin, Texas

Grandchildren: Josh Rawls and wife Shelby of Shreveport, Louisiana; Cody Rawls and wife Katie of Haughton, Louisiana; Jordan Rawls of Shreveport, Louisiana; Kirby Allen Wendt and husband Joey of Shreveport, Louisiana; Kendall Allen of Stonewall, Louisiana; Lyndrey, Jansen, Taylen, Daygen, and Paxley Lightfoot of Joaquin, Texas

Great-Grandchildren: Brody Cross, Meredith Rawls and Penny Joyce Wendt

Brother and Sister-in-law: Larry Dale Oates and wife Kathy of Dreka, Texas

Sisters-in-law: Judy Oates of Keatchie, Louisiana; Carolyn Flournoy of Tenaha, Texas; Sarah Lewis and husband John of Huntington, Texas; Rachel Brannon and husband Ronnie of Hallsville, Texas; Dorothy Flournoy of Longview, Texas

Brother-in-law: George Duke of Timpson, Texas

Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

Mrs. Flournoy’s sons-in-laws, grandsons, and great grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
