Shelbyville Dragons in rebuilding year under new leadership

Dragons travel to Beckville for first game of season on Friday

The Shelbyville Dragons’ athletic program had a fantastic 2017-2018 run.

The Dragons’ basketball program made it all the way to San Antonio for the 2A State Tournament, senior Kawon McCowan secured third place at the State Power Lifting Meet, and the Shelbyville baseball team entered the post season and claimed a victory over Chireno before being knocked out by Douglass.

The one notable absence from this list of last year’s accolades is football.

The Dragons failed to impress last season posting a record of 2-8 overall and 1-4 in district play under the leadership of Interim Head Coach Charles Tindol. Shelbyville has since parted ways with Tindol and welcomed new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach David Benbow.
