Roughriders traveling to Spring Hill Friday for scrimmage

HEAD COACH BARRY BOWMAN: Has high hopes as team focuses on basics

Center High School’s Roughrider football squad has been putting in hours and hours of practice with attention to the basics of the game, said Barry Bowman.

Entering his fourth year as head coach, Bowman said this year's team has a good chance to see playoff action once again.

This week Bowman discussed how the first week of practice went and what he hopes to see when the Riders travel to Spring Hill High School on Friday for a 6 p.m. scrimmage.

We saw a lot of good things and we’re pleased with a lot of things,” Bowman said. ”But we certainly have a lot to work on.”

Bowman said as a whole the team had a good off-season and came back to practice ready to work.

The kids are working hard and the attitudes are good,” he said. “They seem to be excited.”

On Thursday morning the team held their final workout before heading to Longview Spring Hill for the scrimmage.
