Logansport youth victim of accidental drowning June 4
At around 12:35 p.m. 6/4/2018, DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call from DeSoto 911 in regards to a possible accidental drowning at the River Front in Logansport, LA.
Deputies arrived at the scene and spoke with several friends who had been swimming together at the time of the incident.
The initial investigation revealed that a teenage subject went under the water and did not resurface.
Search and Rescue teams from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office and DeSoto Fire District 1 responded to the location.
Divers were able to recover a body from the river. The victim has been identified as a 15 year old male juvenile.
Sheriff Jayson Richardson asks that you please keep the family and friends of the teenager in your thoughts and prayers for the foreseeable future.
UPDATE* DeSoto sheriff’s deputies on Monday afternoon recovered the body of a teenager who drowned on the Sabine River in Logansport.
The victim, identified as Javier Simpson, drowned after jumping off a boat dock next to the pavilion on the riverfront.
The 15-year-old Logansport High Tigers football player was among multiple kids who were playing in the river.
Search and Rescue teams from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff’s Office and DeSoto Fire District 1 responded to the location. Divers recovered the body from the river.
A post shared on the LHS Tiger Announcements & Reminders page states a prayer vigil will be held at Logansport Elementary gym at 6 p.m. Tuesday for the Simpson family.
