Local car club elects officers
The Shelby County Cruisers car club elected officers and appointed committee chairs Tuesday, March 13. From left to right, Treva Rhodes was appointed scholarship committee chairman; George Horton was reelected to another term as vice president; Bennette Horton was elected secretary, Cindy Durham was elected treasurer and appointed to another term as communications chairman; Leon Aldridge was reelected to another term as president; and Jacquelyn Fountain was reappointed as “sunshine" committee chairman and also will serve as merchandising committee chairman.
The Shelby County Cruisers is beginning its seventh year with a membership of about 60. The club’s business meeting is the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at TR’s Steaks and More in Center. The third Tuesday night of each month, they conduct a social gathering “cruise” at the Sonic in Center. Visitors are always welcome.
The Cruiser’s third annual “Spring Fling” car show is set for Saturday, April 21 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ivan Smith Furniture parking lot in Center.
