Joaquin, DeSoto firefighters respond to early morning house fire

Quick work contains blaze to front room

At 1:20 a.m. on Friday, December 15th, the Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to a report of a structure fire at the corner of Highway 7 and FM 139. Firefighters arrived to find a single story wood frame house with flames coming from the front room.

Per their Automatic Mutual Aid Agreement, Desoto Fire District #1 responded immediately as well. The fire was quickly knocked down, containing fire damage to the front living room of the home. The rest of the house did sustain heavy smoke damage. The house was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Fire units returned to the station at 2:45 a.m.
