Timpson volleyball faces district-foe Carlisle in regional quarterfinals
The Timpson Lady Bears volleyball will play their 2A Regional Quarter-Final game Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Tatum agasint District 20 rival Carlisle.
Carlisle, which finished third behind Timpson in District 22, upset District 18 champion Cumby Saturday night.
The Timpson Bears upset No. 8-ranked and District 17 champion Bogata Rivercrest, three sets to two, Thursday night.
Three members of the Timpson team – Madelyn Ramsey, Emily Garcia, and Da'Mya Collins – are playing playing with the marching band today and possibly Tuesday morning in the state band finals in San Antonio.
Thursday night, Timpson and Rivercrest battled back-and-forth in each set. Timpson narrowly won the first, 26-24, and third, 25-17; while Rivercrest won the second (25-20) and fourth )25-17) to force a winner-take-all fifth set.
The Bears have been playing the past few weeks without Harlie Ware, who fractured her ankle.
"She was front-row middle for us," said head coach James Foster. "It was next-person-up. We made a few changes. It was a good thing that the next person up got after it!"
Fifth sets are played to 15, with a two-point victory margin required.
Kamryn Courtney and Jasmine Rogers lead the team with 26 and 20 kills, respectively.
Rogers added 26 assits and Courtney 18. Sara Duke had 23 digs and Brylee Behrens and Rogers added eight each.
Courtney also had three service aces. Rogers scored 11 points.
