Logansport opens district play with rout of Northwood Lena

Tigers win streak at 18

Logansport opened district play as hosts to Northwood Lena, which was also the Tiger’s Homecoming Game.

From the opening snap Logansport’s defense showed once again how strong the defending Class 1A State Champion Tigers are.  Ten straight drives ended with no score from the opposing team.

Logansport offense set the tone by scoring three touchdowns on their first three plays.

Madrid Johnson took the first punt of the game and returned it 60 yards for a touchdown.  Austin Edgar added the extra point.

On the first offensive play from scrimmage, Dalton Shaw connected with John Stephens for a 60-yard touchdown pass for the second touchdown of the night.

The Tigers scored once more on first play of scrimmage when Tresmin Brown ran into the end zone from 18 yards out.

Brown added two more touchdowns for the Tigers scoring from two-yards out and 63 yards.  Trevion Daughtry received a 49 yard pass from Dalton Shaw scoring another touchdown for the Tigers.   Logansport’s final touchdown of the first half came via a 49-yard run by Johnson.

With two minutes left in the second quarter, Coach Kevin Magee told the starting offense and starting defense great job by giving them the rest of the night off.

The score was 45-0 at half time in Logansport’s favor.  From the opening kickoff of the second half the clock ran continuously.

Northwood-Lena first team offense was able to muster a 73 yard drive which resulted in an 18 yard touchdown pass, which would be their only score of the night.

John Stephens led receiving with 91 yards and one touchdown.

“When you score 45 points in one half of a football game, which tells me I have great teammates,”  said Stephens after the game.

Brown ended the night with three rushing touchdowns and was well over the 100 yard mark.

“With this type of game defensive stats weren’t optimal for the amount of playing time," said  defensive coordinator, Kyle Creech. "What was optimal was the quality of play put in by the defensive second string personnel against the opposing team’s first team offense. This was a great win for the Tiger’s on both sides of the ball.”

The Tigers go on the road to continue district play next week vs Montgomery.
