Council okays mutual aid, lease agreements

Approving a mutual aid agreement between the Shelby County Sheriff ’s office and the Center Police Department and hearing a city council strategic plan report were the main items of interest at the Center city council meeting held on Monday Feb. 9.

Local cities see disparate January sales tax rebates

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock today said state sales tax revenue totaled $4.6 billion in January, 7.1 percent more than in January 2025. The majority of January sales tax revenue is based on sales made in December and remitted to the agency in January.

Board receives district reports, honors Harrison

Hearing the district annual performance report, the 2025 district property value report and presenting a state UIL award were the main items on the agenda of the Shelbyville ISD board of trustees meeting held on Monday, Feb. 9.
