Shelby declared ‘Contiguous County; eligible for SBA relief

Shelby County residents qualify for some of the benefits…”

Shelby County Judge Allison Harbison has released a letter from the U.S. Small Business Administration - Office of Disaster Recovery and Resilience noting that Shelby County is a “Contiguous County” in weather events that took place May 10-23. Although the county did not declare for the relief available, according to the SBA, Shelby County residents qualify for some of the benefits and small businesses can apply for physical damages to their property.

The letter from Javier Caltenco with SBA to Judge Hardbisonstated: Per our conversation, I am providing you electronic SBA documents that pertain to the current declaration for the Severe Storms and Flooding that happened during May 10 and May 23.

Shelby County is a Contiguous County therefore, small businesses can apply with SBA for physical damages to their property.  Please find attached SBA Fact Sheet, Esign, Press Release and the address of our Disaster Loan Outreach Center (DLOC).

(Available for download below)

The DLOC will be staffed with SBA representatives to assist survivors with questions, application, upload documents, loan closing, etc.

In summary, our Disaster Assistance include:

Homeowners may be eligible for a disaster loan up to $200,000 for primary residence structural repairs or rebuilding. SBA may also be able to help homeowners and renters with up to $40,000 to replace important personal property, including automobiles damaged or destroyed in the disaster. (primary counties only)

Businesses of all sizes and private nonprofit organizations may borrow up to $2 million to repair or replace damaged or destroyed real estate, machinery and equipment, inventory, and other business assets.
