SFA art faculty exhibition to feature works of Anguiano

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin State University’s annual School of Art Faculty Exhibition will open with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, in The Cole Art Center @ The Old Opera House in downtown Nacogdoches.

Each year, the faculty exhibition features a wide variety of artworks in ceramics, sculpture, photography, painting, prints, metals and mixed media, according to John Handley, director of SFA art galleries.

“The show represents the continued trajectory of the artists’ work and demonstrates their unique styles and mediums,” he said.

The show also serves to highlight the artistic achievements of SFA faculty artists.

“Outside the classrooms, our faculty members have vibrant artistic careers of their own,” Handley said. “Many have works in museum collections across the country and abroad, and many are also represented by commercial galleries.”

This year’s featured faculty artist is Daniel Anguiano, assistant professor of graphic design in the School of Art. Anguiano has worked in the design industry since the mid-’80s for design firms, ad agencies and publishing companies. He has successfully contracted to several advertising agencies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.Anguiano has a master’s degree in graphic design from Savannah College of Art & Design and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in visual communication from the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to having worked in the design field, he has taught visual communications courses since the late 1990s for local colleges in Texas as well as online colleges as an adjunct.
