Declaration reading at Historic Courthouse

A formal reading of the United States Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights was conducted by the Shelby County Criminal Defense Bar on Friday, June 30, 2023, in the courtroom of the Historic 1885 Courthouse.

Participating in the 1:30 p.m. event were Stephen Shires, Scott Peal, April Prince, Kim Ryan, Jeffery Adams, and Dexter Jones. The ceremony is an annual effort by the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association read in all 254 Texas counties
