San Augustine County train derailment cleanup expected to take most of Friday
ALERT UPDATE: A train derailment has been reported on FM 2213 in San Augustine County.
TxDOT reported the derailment involves up to 12 rail cars and they now expect the cleanup effort will take most of the day on Friday to clear up. The roadway is closed on both sides of the track making it necessary for motorists to find an alternate route, officials said.
TxDOT officials have blocked the roadway. They advise motorists to prepare to take alternate routes. As of about 11 a.m., TxDOT officials said they expected the roadway to remain closed for about another five hours. They said motorists need to plan another route until at least 4 p.m. Friday.
