Joaquin Rams ready to "Take it Over" this season

Head coach Wade Lawson entering 4th year at the helm

JOAQUIN - The Joaquin Rams are entering their fourth season under Head Coach Wade Lawson, which means this year’s crop of seniors were freshmen in 2015 when he took over the program.

After narrowly missing the playoffs with a 5-5 record in 2015, the Rams have put together back-to-back winning campaigns. After going 7-4 in 2016, the Rams improved by one win in 2017, going 8-3.

Both years saw them surprise the so-called experts by finishing second in a very tough District 11AA Division I, notching wins over traditional powers like Alto and San Augustine. However, that wasn’t enough to erase the disappointment of first round playoff exits after both seasons.

Lawson says his players have high expectations, in spite of the lack of respect they seem to be getting from pigskin prognosticators around the area.

“We’re not going to be happy with the same result this year,” Lawson said.
