Roughriders take top spots on All-District football teams
A pair of Center Roughriders received All-District Most Valuable Player honors in the recently ended 4A -2 Region III District 9 football season while six players made First Team honors in district balloting.
Junior KeAmodre Redd Horace was named All-District Offensive MVP while senior Alexis Lopez received Special Teams MVP honors for his kicking ability.
Making first team honors for the Riders were Jake Hanson, QB; Jakerrion Watson, WR; Lacorey Buckley, OL; Colton Crawford, DL, Jake Liker, LB; and Jermaine Preston, DB.
Named to the All-District Second Team were Marquez Hall, WR; Zacc Smith, WR; Jordan Patton, OL; Jamichael Weathered, OLB; Zacc Smith, OLB; JJ McCollister, DL; and Jase Bird, DB.
Roughriders receiving Honorable Mention recognition included, Michael Sowell, OL; Roderick Gardner, OL; CJ Goodwin, OL; Hollis Polk, WR; Chase Adkison, DL; and Tyler Herndon, LB.
The Roughriders finished the season in the No. 2 spot in District 9 action behind Jasper, the district champions. Center had a 3-1 district mark and finished their first season under Scott Ponder, athletic director and head football coach, with a 6-5 record.
