Lady Riders move on to first round of basketball playoff action

Center takes on Rusk 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Nacogdoches

The Center Lady Roughriders and head coach Doug Boone head to Nacogdoches after advancing in district basketball playoff action.

The team is scheduled to play Rusk at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 12 in the Nacogdoches High School gym. The gym is located at 4310 Appleby Sand Road.

Center finished 4A Region III District 20 regular season play tied for second place with Jasper. Both teams had a 4-4 district record behind Huntington with an 8-0 district mark.

The Lady Riders and Jasper topped Carthage, with a 3-5 district record, and Hudson, which went 1-7 in district play.

The Lady Roughriders finished off regular season district play this past Friday with a commanding 58-39 win over Hudson.

Rusk was the second place team in Region III District 19 with a 4-3 district record and 10-8 season mark.

Admission will be $5 for adults, $3 for students with passes honored for district, senior citizens, military and coaches.

Because of the Lady Riders basketball team playoff game on Tuesday the girls softball scrimmage originally scheduled for Tuesday has been moved to Monday, Feb. 11, with the JV starting at 4:30 p.m., and varsity starting at 5:30 p.m.
