Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department sets May 4th fundraiser
The Joaquin Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Spring Fundraiser on Saturday, May 4th.
Beginning at 11:00 a.m., bbq plates with your choice of sliced beef or sausage will be available at the fire station for $8.00, including potato salad, beans and a soft drink.
The evening events will begin earlier this year to include some added excitement. The annual Cake Walk will start at 4:00 p.m., featuring cakes, pies and cookies from some of the area’s best bakers.
Following the Cake Walk, spectators will witness the first annual “Battle of the Bucket,” featuring firefighters from various area fire departments competing in an old fashioned bucket race for trophies and prizes.
A bucket race involves a bucket hanging from an overhead cable between two flags. Two two-person hose teams are positioned on each end of the cable under the flags.
The objective is to use the hose stream to push the bucket past your opponent’s flag. Teams will draw for positions in a single elimination bracket and compete for first, second and third place.
The Joaquin VFD would like to invite all area residents to come out and enjoy food, fun and fellowship while supporting a great cause!
