VFW Post 8904
Veterans Day on Nov. 11 is a time for Americans to pay their respects to all those who have served our country — a day to stand united in respect for all veterans, past and present.
We celebrate and honor America’s Veterans for their patriotism, love of county and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
Except for last year when we honored the 100th anniversary to the end of World War I, Shelby County Memorial Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8904 does not hold its own program.
Instead VFW Post 8904 joins with two Shelby County high schools, Joaquin, 9 a.m., Monday, Nov. 11, in the high school gym; and Tenaha at 9:30 a.m. In the cafeteria, which hold Veterans Day programs and announce youth essay winners and pass out awards.
Timpson also has a program in conjunction with American Legion Post 90.
We encourage every citizen of Shelby County, especially military veterans to join us in attending one of these three high school programs. The students put in a lot of time and effort to make our local veterans feel special and if you’ve never attended you will be glad you did.
Tenaha school officials and students invite all veterans and military personnel from all branches of the military to join them
Veterans Day is an annual holiday in America honoring the millions of military veterans in the United States.
At Tenaha ISD we believe Veterans Day is important because of the precious freedoms that we take for granted every day.
Saying "Thank You" to a person in the military is a very small price for our glorious freedom. Tenaha Schools invites all veterans and military personnel from all branches of the military to join us for our Veterans Day Program on Monday, November 11th, at 9:30 a.m. in the school cafeteria.
Our program will include performances by kindergarten-third grade, members of the award winning Tenaha Roarin’ Band from Tigerland and the VFW.
All military family members and community members are also invited to join our administration, faculty and students as we say “Thank You” to these men and women who served our country.
Refreshments will be served after the program. For more information contact Brenda Farmer at email@example.com or 936-248-5000 ext. 503.
