TxDOT Lufkin District lists area construction, maintenance projects
LUFKIN DISTRICT CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE PROJECT UPDATES

LUFKIN – Work will continue with many construction and maintenance projects throughout the nine-county Lufkin District in coming days. Motorists should prepare for delays, reduce speed and respect all work zone traffic control in place as they travel through a work zone. Stay alert for workers and moving equipment.

US 59 South: Crews are scheduled to repair the signal pole that was damaged recently in a crash. Lane closures are planned in northbound lanes as contractors install the signal heads and the vehicle detection camera. Delays should be expected.
US 59 South: Crews will continue to improve guardrail to design standards from SL 287 in Lufkin to the Polk County line. Work is scheduled next week within the city of Diboll to pour a concrete headwall, place stone rip rap and replace a culvert. Lane closures expected.
US 69 South: Work continues from FM 844 to FM 1270 that will widen the roadway from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway. Concrete bridge beams are scheduled to be set at the overpass at SH 63, as weather allows. Concrete bridge railing is also being poured on new bridges. Motorists should expect delays and be alert for flaggers and trucks entering and exiting the work zone throughout the project.
US 69 South: Crews continue to prepare the right of way and install drainage structures from FM 1270 to the Jasper County line. This project is designed to continue widening the roadway from two lanes to a four-lane divided highway.
BU 69: Crews are scheduled to continue constructing pedestrian sidewalks near Sue Drive as weather permits.
US 59 South: Crews are scheduled to place signs at crossover locations south of Diboll, weather permitting.
SH 103 East: Bridge approaches will be poured on the west end of the bridge and work to prepare a non-mow strip on both ends of the bridge continues at the Lake Sam Rayburn/Angelina River Bridge to repair erosion damage. Upgrades to metal beam guard fence continue through the project. A temporary traffic signal is in place and a lane closure across the bridge. Motorists are urged to stay alert and expect delays.
FM 326: Work is scheduled to continue dirt work to reconstruct existing roadway and widen pavement as weather allows. Motorists should expect delays and lane closures with a pilot car in place to lead traffic through the work zone.
US 287 North: Crews are scheduled to repair and cut high joints in various locations.
FM 228: Work is scheduled to trim trees in various locations.
SH 7: Mill and inlay work is scheduled from FM 2782 to US59/SL224. Motorists should expect lane closures and be prepared for delays. Traffic control will be in place.
SH 21: Work continues to widen the sub-grade and cross structures on this project designed to reconstruct pavement and add passing lanes from the east end of the Trinity River Bridge to FM 1280. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and be alert to a temporary traffic signal in place east of Rattlesnake Ranch with one-way traffic.
SH 21: Intermittent lane closures should be expected on this project as crews work to complete the project designed to reconstruct pavement and add passing lanes from 2.3 miles east of FM 2967 to SH 7.
FM 227: Crews are scheduled to pour concrete approach slabs and set guard rails on this bridge replacement project at San Pedro Creek. This section of roadway will be closed to traffic until the project is completed. A detour on FM 2423 is set for motorists to maneuver around construction.
FM 227 West: Base repair is scheduled along with pavement level up and spot sealing in various locations.
Various locations: Work is scheduled to repair signs and patch potholes in various locations.
US 59: Crews are preparing the right-of-way and working on drainage structures on this highway improvement project that will construct additional main lanes, overpasses and access roads from SH 7 to 1.2 miles south of Spradley Street.
SH 21: Crews are monitoring vegetative establishment after placing culvert extensions designed to upgrade metal beam guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects from SH 7 to the San Augustine County line and on SH 21 from the San Augustine line to FM 3448 in Sabine County.
SH 7: Crews are scheduled to mill and inlay the roadway from FM 2782 to US 59/SL 224.
FM 226: Crews are monitoring vegetative establishment on this project designed to upgrade metal beam guardrail to design standards and safety treat fixed objects from SH 21 to the end of pavement.
FM 2609: Crews are applying flex base, preparing right-of-way and extending structures as weather allows on this project designed to reconstruct and widen the pavement from FM 941 to the end of pavement. Daily lane closures are scheduled.
FM 2609: Work is scheduled to continue as sidewalks are constructed on this project designed to widen the roadway from Raguet Street to North Street (BU 59). This work includes daily lane closures at North Street. FM 2609/Austin Street remains closed to through traffic.
FM 1275: Crews are scheduled to work on drainage issues, headwalls and upgrade metal beam guard fence from SL 224 to the end of pavement.
US 59: Crews will work to cut high shoulders in the southbound lane near Goodrich.
US 59: Crews are installing barricades and are scheduled to begin work to repair the bridge at McCardell Slough.
US 59 South: Crews are scheduled to place signs at highway crossovers north of Corrigan, weather permitting.
FM 1988: Crews will be placing an asphalt overlay on both lanes. Alternating lane closures should be expected.
FM 942: Work to cut high shoulders is planned in various locations.
Lake Livingston State Park: Crews are scheduled to continue road, campsite and parking area rehabilitation. Pin Oak Loop in currently closed.
Bridge Replacement Projects: The bridge at Big Sandy Creek Tributary has been completed. Segno Fire Lane at Double Branch is scheduled to be closed and work will begin at that location.
US 96 South: Crews are scheduled to repair base in various locations. Lane closures are expected.
FM 1: Crews are monitoring vegetative establishment from the San Augustine County line to SH 103 after widening the pavement and upgrading metal beam guardrail to design standards.
SAN AUGUSTINE COUNTY
SH 21: Crews will continue to place panels and are scheduled to pour concrete bridge decks on this bridge replacement project at the Attoyac River. Lane closures expected.
CR 313: Bridge abutments are being constructed at Ayish Bayou Relief Route and beams and decking is scheduled to begin in coming days.
CR 205: Bridge deck construction is complete and work will continue as weather allows at Black Creek.
CR 141: Crews have completed the bridge deck at Palo Gaucho Bayou and will continue work as weather allows.
SAN JACINTO COUNTY
SH 150: Crews are scheduled to repair potholes in Shepherd near FM 222.
SH 156: Work is scheduled to repair potholes from FM 946 South to FM 224.
SH 150: Crews will continue to work on embankment and flexible base in the widened sections of this project designed to reconstruct pavement and add passing lanes from the Walker County line to FM 945 North.
FM 224: This project designed to improve and upgrade metal beam guardrail to design standards from SH 156 North to SH 156 South is complete and awaiting final inspection.
US 96: Crews are monitoring vegetative establishment from US 84 to SH 87 where crews have planed, leveled the roadway and placed a permeable friction course.
FM 2262: Crews are scheduled to repair base and edges in various locations.
FM 1280: Work is scheduled to repair base and edges in various locations.
Various locations: Crews will continue to place profile markings on various roadways. Motorists should expect some slight delays with this slow-moving work convoy.
Various locations: Work is scheduled to continue placing pavement markers throughout the district. Expect delays.
Various locations: Striping is being placed where pavement work has been completed. No lane closures expected, but motorists could experience slight delays.
