Two vehicle crash occurs on US 96 in Shelby County

SHELBY COUNTY – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a two vehicle crash this morning on US 96, just north of CR 3774.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 11:30 a.m., a 2008 Jeep SUV was traveling south on US 96 when the driver reportedly went to sleep, crossed over the center of the roadway and struck a 2015 Ford SUV in the driver side.

The driver of the Jeep is identified as 72-year-old Lynda Huebel, from Shelbyville. Huebel was not reportedly injured during the crash. The driver of the Ford is identified as 45-year-old Sharon Ray, from Hemphill. Ray was transported to a Center hospital for treatment.

This crash remains under investigation. No additional information is available at this time.
