Missing Center teenager located
A teenaged girl reported missing since about 5 p.m. Saturday has been located, Center Police Department officials confirmed.
Officers were dispatched to U.S. 96 South shortly after 4:30 p.m. Monday when a caller reported a girl matching the description of Tiffany Campos, 16, was seen walking along the highway. Police were not releasing additional information early Monday evening other than to say Campos was safely located.
Earlier Monday the family of Tiffany Campos sought the public's help in finding her. Later in the day Monday Center Police Department released a statement indicating Campos, 4-foot, 11-inches talk and weighing about 98 pounds was classified as a runaway.
When she was located Monday afternoon she was reportedly wearing the same clothes she was last seen in Saturday, including a white tie dyed shirt with the words “Kinda Don’t Care” and black Nike basketball shorts.
The family reported Campos was last seen Saturday on Kennedy Street in the vicinity of Center Middle School.
In information released Monday by Center Police Department, they warned that any one aiding in keeping a runaway child is breaking the law. The department quoted Penal code Sec. 25.06 Harboring Runaway Child.
“ (a) A person commits an offense if he knowingly harbors a child : (1) Is younger than 18 years of age An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor,” the code said.
Both Center Police and Shelby County Sheriff's Office units responded to the scene of where the missing teen was reportedly seen walking along U.S. 96 South about 4:30 p.m. Monday. The location is across the highway from the Texas Department of Public Safety offices.
Jennifer Lopez (Campos) posted the following on her Facebook page Monday evening:
"Thank you to everyone for the prayers and everyone who took time out to share my post all I can say right now is that SHE HAS BEEN FOUND and she is back home safe
