Front entrances to Light and Champion, County Clerk's Office, Citizens Bank temporarily unaccessible
As downtown Center's streetscape renovation project continues workers have been busy starting work on sidewalks in front of storefronts along structures on Austin Street and San Augustine Street about a half block in each direction front intersection of those two streets.
On Austin Street, among the locations where patrons need to use rear or alternate entrances, are the Shelby County Clerk's Office, Citizens Bank.
Fronting San Augustine Street the front entrance of The Light and Champion is not accessible and customers are asked to use the rear garage door entrance to get to the business and advertising offices.
Representatives of the Fort Worth-based Fain Group, which is handling the revitalization project, said the work could take at least a couple of weeks for this phase of the construction project.
Access to The Light and Champion can be made by coming off of Shelbyville Street onto Selma next to Shelby Savings Bank and then turning right on Austin Street.
While access to the front door to Venetia's Studio and American Cheer is available, patrons only have access from the south side of San Augustine Street. Parents parking along Austin Street will need to use the studio's rear entrance since the sidewalk at the corner of Austin and San Augustine streets is blocked.
