Four City of Center Council positions up for election
City of Center residents interested in taking on a leadership role on the Center City Council have until 5 p.m., Aug. 20, to file their intensions.
Residents of City District II and IV can file to seek those positions while those living anywhere in Center can seek one of two at-large council seats. Jerry Lathan is currently in the District II position while Dr. Randy Collard holds the District IV council seat.
Currently serving in the at-large positions are Leigh Porterfield and Terry Scull.
District II serves a large section of the east side of Center while District IV is on the city's western side.
If contested races develop for any of those positions they will be on the Nov. 3 ballot when polls will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.
To run for one of the positions, residents must file with City of Center City Secretary Barbara Boyd by 5 p.m. Aug. 20.
