City presents parade awards

Outstanding entries recognized Friday

Prizes were awarded last week to winners in the Center Christmas parade competition. The City of Center, parade sponsor, conducted the presentation ceremony at city hall with Center Mayor David Chadwick thanking the winners for their participation and distributing the awards.

Winners for the December 4th parade themed “Christmas Through the Decades” included “Individual Category” winners First Place Erica Santa and Second Place 2021 East Texas Poultry Festival Queens, Senior Queen Emillee Elliott and Junior Queen Carly Gray.

In the School Category, First Place winner was Center Middle School Cheerleaders and Second Place went to the Center High School Marching Band. Third place winner was the Center High School Chaparrals.

“Church Category” winners included First Place St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, Second Place First Baptist Church Worship Ministry, and Third Place First United Methodist Church.

In the “Civic Organization Category, winners were First Place East Texas Disciples Christian Motorcyclists Association, Second Place Girl Scout Troop #102175 and Third Place the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

“Business Category” awards went to First Place Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center, Second Place to Affinity Hospice, and Third Place to Sigler’s Little Homestead.

“Overall Best in Show” honors were awarded to St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church.
