Center Walmart kicks off new curbside grocery pickup service
Music from members of the Center High School horn section was playing the Star Spangled Banner as a large group of Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and chamber representatives along with Walmart associates were on hand Tuesday morning at the Center Walmart.
The reason for the gathering was to kickoff a new-to-Center curbside online shopping service now being offered at the city's Walmart Super Center.
Walmart Store Manager Jeff Martin said his staff is primed and ready to take customer service and convenience to a new level at the Center store.
“This is something we are very excited about,” he said. The store's associates stand ready to help explain the process to customers and help with any questions they might have about using the service, Martin said.
“This morning we are opening up our online grocery, it's going to open up some great opportunities for the community,” Martin said. “It will let them same some time on their personal lives to let us do their shopping for them.”
There is an application which can be downloaded in an online user's app store. Martin said the app can be easily identified by the orange Walmart spark.
“All they have to do is put it on the website and show up in the parking lot and we'll take care of the rest,” he said.
Cindy Lindsey, chair of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors, welcomed the new service along with fellow chamber members, during a ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony held inside the store.
The ceremony was held at 8 a.m. Tuesday, at the Center Walmart, 765 Hurst Street. To download the app, customers may visit: walmart.com/grocery.
