Area veterans sought to participate in F.L. Moffett's kindergarten Veterans Day Parade
Stephanie Fults, kindergarten teacher at F. L. Moffett is looking for veterans to attend their kindergarten Veterans Day Parade at 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, according to Larry Hume, quartermaster with VFW Post 8904.
He said he was contacted by Fults.
“We walk through the halls of Moffett with decorated flags and red white and blue,” Fults said. In the past, a few veterans have come.
“It's not much, it's kindergarten, but for them to see a few veterans in person helps them to somewhat understand when we teach them about veterans,” she said. “At this age, it's more about getting them to love the flag.”
The veterans “parade” involves about 190 students. Hume said he encourages any and all VFW members and all other veterans to participate.
“We need to be at the F. .L Moffett School front office at 9:50 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9, he said. Hume said VFW caps and patriotic clothing appropriate.
“Here’s our chance to interact with the youth of our community,” Hume said.
