July Fourth celebrations, activities set

Sunday is Independence Day also known as “the Fourth of July” in recognition of the
date. While the holiday is one traditionally celebrated on the calendar date, Monday will

The Light and Champion newspaper office will be closed Monday, July 5 in observance
of Independence Day, and will reopen again Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m.

Frontier Days in Timpson

Frontier Days returns to Timpson this year July 2-4. Join the celebration during the first
weekend of July in downtown Timpson. See page XXX for complete line up of activities.

Senior Nutrition Site

Chili dogs, beans, salad, cake, and a prize for the most patriotic is the Independence
Day program at the Senior Nutrition Site at 124 Haley Drive in Center. Seniors 60 and

Fireworks in Tenaha

The Tenaha Businessmen’s Association fireworks display at the Raymond Jackson
Stadium in Tenaha. Gates open at 7:00 pm. with live music and food. Entertainment
begins at 8 p.m. and fireworks around 9 p.m. The Tenaha Together Committee also
offers the opportunity to remember and honor persons close to their heart. Names will
be read during the ceremony. Make a Fireworks Donation “in memory of” or “in honor
of” a loved one, great friend(s), or people that are special by contacting Julie Tatom at
