Army of volunteers, Shelby County Cookers raise funds for Craig "Burrhead" Jones

Smoked chicken lunch, fixings & lemonade served up at courthouse square on Friday

The Shelby County Cookers assisted by a small army of other volunteers served up hundreds of grilled chicken lunches Friday in a fundraising effort for Craig "Burrhead" Jones.

Dozens of pre-ordered to-go lunches were loaded up for delivery or pickup as a steady stream of vehicles eased by the canopies set up for a production line of filling plates in the effort.

Barbecue chicken quarters, beans, potato salad, dessert and bread were filled on the to-go boxes as others bagged up the meals to be picked up or delivered.

Organizer Andrea Mackleroy said the fundraiser will help with medical expenses and travel expenses for Craig Jones, who has kidney cancer that has metastasized into his lungs.
