San Augustine woman air lifted to Tyler hospital after pedestrian-car crash

ANGELINA COUNTY Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers investigated an auto-pedestrian crash this afternoon on SH 63, just east of FM 2743.

The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 12:15 p.m., a 2000 Honda passenger car was traveling west when a highway construction worker stepped into the west bound lane and was struck by the vehicle. The construction worker was not engaged in directing traffic at the time of collision.

The driver of the Honda is identified as 23-year-old Destiny Husband from Zavalla. Husband received minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.

The pedestrian is identified as 21-year-old Savannah Lee from San Augustine. Lee was transported to Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin and later transported to a Tyler hospital by medical helicopter.
