Halloween is almost here!

Don’t forget to attend some of the many Fall, Halloween Festivities and other events coming up soon in Shelby County and the surrounding area.

Tri-County Head Start Annual Resource Fair and Fall Festival!

On Thursday October 24, Tri-County Head Start will be having their Annual Resource Fair and Fall Festival starting at 5 p.m and ending at 7. The purpose of Tri-County Head Start’s Resource Fair is to “educate the community on the resources, services and information that are available to them,” according to the press release. 

The Fall Festival will have “food, fun, games and prizes for the children.” The Festival will take place at the Old Elementary School at 214 Nacogdoches Street in Center Texas.

30th Annual Chicken Dressing Dinner

Newbern Chapter No. 1135 Order of the Eastern Star will be holding their 30th annual chicken dressing dinner Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 between 11-2 p.m. It will be held at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall located at 217 Cora Street Center, Texas. $7 donation plates, dine in or take out. CMS Fall Dance!

On Friday October 25, from 6 to 9 p.m., Center Middle School will be having their fall dance! Tickets are presale $10.00 or $15.00 at the door. Tickets can be purchased from Mrs. Ferguson, Coach Baskin, Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. Dunn or in the library. 

Don’t miss the dance and it’s door prize drawings! Songs can be requested at the dance for $1.00! The dance will have a costume contest that is also $1.00 to enter; make sure your costumes stay in dress code and don’t cover your face! 


ETex Chopper Guys Halloween Run

East Texas Chopper Guys invites all to their Halloween Run on October 25-27 at Boles Field in the Sabine National Forest on Texas FM 2694, six and a half miles from Shelbyville. Set up camp on Friday, Oct. 25 and enjoy home grown music at the amphitheater Friday night. On Saturday, Oct. 26, the first bike out is at 9 a.m. for the Halloween Run. 

The last bike in should be at 12-noon. Around 1p.m. the TMRA Area A General Membership Meeting will begin and the field meet will begin after the meeting.

There will be a Crazy Lady Special Award for the person showing the most Halloween spirit. There will be a raffle and/or auction held at 6 p.m. at the awards ceremony. There will be more music and an “open mic” participation Saturday night. Sunday, Oct. 27, will begin with a worship service and camp will break up after this service.

The 29th Annual Sassafras Festival!

The 29th Annual Sassafras Festival is also on its way! Historic Downtown San Augustine, Texas will be having their 29th Annual Sassafras Festival on Saturday, October 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. “Art and Craft Vendors - Live entertainment - Food Vendors - Classic Car “Shine and Show” - Halloween Costume Contest - Walk to End Alzheimers - “Rae Estes” BBQ Cook-off - Petting Zoo - SAHS Grand Reunion - Art Show - Photography Contest. Friday, Oct. 25, - Burger and Bingo starting at 6 p.m. $20 presale or $25 at the event at the Historic Augus Theatre in downtown San Augustine.



First United Methodist Church of Center is hosting their annual Halloween Trunk - or - Treat on Saturday, October 26. Starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. at 211 Porter Street, Center, Texas. “The free family-event is open to the community and will include activities, food, cake-walk fun and trick-or-treating in the church parking lot.” 

Our annual Trunk-orTreat is completely free to anyone who wants to attend,” said Pastor Karen Jones. “Church members donate everything from their time to sponsoring the food and we look forward to this every year. It’s a part of our church’s community outreach and our foundation to share God’s love.” 


Huxley’s VFD and Annual Fall Festival!

Huxley’s VFD and Annual Fall Festival will take place Saturday October 26 at 6 p.m.

Huxley’s Volunteer Fire House 10 Gun Raffle Games and +30 Gun!” They will have children’s games, a cake-walk and other fun activities. The food will be ready at 4 p.m. according to the press release; Bar-B-Q chicken plates, chili and more great food. 

Senior Site Halloween Fundraiser!

Saturday October 26 there will be a Halloween Fundraiser for The Senior Nutrition Site. Starting at 6 p.m. and ending at 11 p.m; enjoy “live music, great food, raffles and even a costume contest! Center First United Pentecostal Church Fall Festival

You're invited to join us for our Fall Festival from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at Center First UPC on Hurst Street. There will be food trucks, games, bounce houses, bubble runners, bumper boats, cotton candy, sno cones, and more! FREE ADMISSION.

Halloween in the Hole! 

This year’s Halloween in the Hole event will take place on October 28, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Center High School baseball field. Kids dressed in costumes, 13 and under, are invited to an evening of trick-or-treat fun!

Halloween in the Hole is sponsored by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office and John Burns Farmers Insurance Agency.

Shelbyville First Baptist Church will be hosting their annual Fish Fry and Trunk or Treat from  6 p.m.-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29.

Holiday Nursing Home Ghostly Delights!

Head to the Holiday Nursing Home Thursday, October 31 at 4:30 p.m.! Holiday Nursing Home invites all young trick or treaters to the “haunted halls of our facility” for “ghostly delights to take home.” The ghostly delights will end at 6:30 p.m. 


Hallelujah Night!

Get ready for food, fun, fellowship, games and Hallelujah Night! Thursday, October 31, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. is Hallelujah Night at Center Christian Fellowship. It is a “community- wide event.” 

The night of excitement will be free, free, free!” This year’s theme is “Fall in Love with JESUS.” “Everyone is invited to come and enjoy, every child will receive lots of candy.”

Center Christian Fellowship is located at 2471 U.S Highway 96 North, Center, Texas. There will be a “TRUNK or TREAT” with games and candy, hayrides, face-painting, outdoor movies, hotdogs and more! 


Joaquin First United Methodist Church Fall Festival!

Come on by the Joaquin First United Methodist Church in Joaquin, Texas on Thursday October 31 for community Halloween fun! The festival will be open to the community. Games, weiner roast, candy and much more! The festival and fun will begin at 4 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.


Trunk or Treat hosted by Shelby Savings Bank, Ivan Smith Furniture

Shelby Savings Bank North Branch and Ivan Smith Furniture are hosting the 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat Bash from 4-6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 31.

Come join the fun in the bank and furniture parking lot on Hurst Street. Activities include games, face painting, fun and especially candy! Admission is free.


Huxley Bay Marina hosting Trunk or Treat

Huxley Bay Marina invites all to this year’s Trunk or Treat from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31.

There will be a costume contest for all ages, car decorating contest, candy, games, and face painting! Come join us for a great time!

Millard’s Crossing Annual Trick - Or - Treating!

Join us Thursday, Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Millard’s Crossing Historic Village in Naccogdoches for our annual trick-or-treating event. This family-friendly event will have contests, hayrides, food trucks and more!”

Admission is $5.00 per person and children under 3 may enter the village for free.

Visitors are encouraged to come in costume and bring candy buckets for trick-or-treating. Activities will include rock wall climbing, haunted hayrides, visiting our fortune teller, face painting and many other games that will be fun for all ages. Each porch will have it’s own theme and entertainment, and every stop will offer candy from one of our friendly ghosts. Tenaha FBC sets Fall Festival

Tenaha's First Baptist Church is hosting a Fall Festival from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 2.

 Come join in on a family friendly festival with games, prizes, hayride, cotton candy, pumpkin relay race, and much more! An adult guardian must be present for children to ride on hayride.

Pleasant Grove MBC Fall Festival

Pleasant Grove MBC is having their Fall Fest on Nov. 2 at 5:30 p.m. There will be Games, Candy, Food, Cake Walk, Photo Op, Hayride, and Campfire! Come join us for great food and fellowship!
