Shelby County Outreach Ministries have a variety of holiday activities coming up that which help provide needed funding for the nonprofit while providing exposure for the services the county-wide social services agency provides.

Those include this Saturday's Praise 2019, Letters From Santa and the Gift of Hope projecdt, which are all coming up.

The Senior Nutrition Site on Loop 500 is the location for Praise 2019 beginning at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. The event features local community choirs and music groups. Shelby Outreach Ministries have plenty lined up for the event;

A full evening of activities will include singing, silent auctions, live auctions, door prizes and refreshments for $10 a ticket.

Shelby County Outreach Ministries' Josh Crawford said he is very excited about the live auction items they have so far.

We’re giving away a 50-inch flat screen, a handmade quilt, Ruger 22 rifle, a car detail by 3 P’s, designer sunglasses from Golden Eye Clinic and a lot more,” said Crawford.

These are just the live auction items, we will be auctioning smaller items in the silent auction and giving away door-prizes throughout the night,” said Crawford.

These are just the live auction items, we will be auctioning smaller items in the silent auction and giving away door -prizes throughout the night,” said Crawford.

“A few of the auction items include a new Gas Grill, 22 Ruger Rifle, 2-night stays at Pine Creek Lodge and Holly Park Marina, Vintage Collectible Currency, Texas A&M Rocking Chair, 50” 4K TV, Signed Prints by Woodrow Foster, Propane Fish Fryer, a handmade quilt, and more.

“Each ticket is $10 and will enter your name for a chance to win multiple door prizes throughout the night!  Door prizes include gift certificates, dinner coupons, and more,” Crawford said. “Join us for an evening of singing, auctions, food, and prizes.”

“You do not need to be present to win door prizes,” he said. “Come by Shelby County Outreach Ministries today for your tickets. Tickets will also be available at the door that evening.”

Praise was first brought to the community by Shelby Outreach Ministries in 2014, being the first year the organization tried it out. They hosted it again in 2017, and now organizers have been busy preparing for Praise 2019, inviting everyone from the community to come out and enjoy the event.

Shelby County Outreach Ministries Santa’s Letters can be purchased until Friday, Dec. 13. For $10. For that donation, the purchaser's child will receive their own Christmas tree ornament and a letter from Santa, addressed and stamped officially from The North Pole and Mr. Claus himself. The program also offers an explanation of the love and knowledge of Jesus Chirst and why he is the “reason for the season.”

Turn in a “Letter from Santa” order form and submit it to Shelby County Outreach Ministries before Dec. 13 to purchase a letter from Santa.

Christmas is a time for joy and celebration. But for many, it’s also a sad time - because we’ve all got loved ones that we wish we could celebrate with,” said Crawford.

This year, Shelby County Outreach Ministries will also be offering the Gift of Hope; where stars can be sponsored for $10. The purchase of this star will give someone the gift of Hope; giving the ministries a $10 donation to help those in need in our community.

Crawford said not only does the $10 donation give the Gift of Hope, but it’s also a gift to the donor and their loved ones that aren’t here with them today. Shelby Outreach Ministries will write the name of a loved one the sponsor is missing this season, and hang it for the community to see.

We hope this can let the memory of a loved one live on during Christmas,” said Crawford.
